All residents living at the halfway house are required to actively participate in individual step work. This is monitored by their councillor (case manager) and logged in their I.R.P. St George’s halfway house follows the “celebrate recovery” Christian faith based 12 step program that was conceived from the Alcoholics Anonymous 12 step program. In essence the steps are a self-help tool which encourages the individual to seek and find solutions to their issues and addictions by understanding themselves. This includes who they are now, whom they were in the past and whom they want to be in the future. The program offers pro-active solutions in order to rectify and adjust their behaviour in accordance with the Christian religious values and recovery principals. Residents that are of other religious persuasions, non-practising or atheists do not have to partake in Christ based activities and are welcome to practise their religions as normal, the home is guided by Christian faith values which are the core of all major religions.
